Gisele Bündchen once again mingled with fashion’s elite on Monday night, attending the 2023 Met Gala solo following her divorce from Tom Brady last year.
With her Chanel ensemble, the 42-year-old honored the 2023 Met Gala theme. The event, like the Met’s new Costume Institute exhibition, is devoted to the controversial Karl Lagerfeld, who worked as Chanel’s creative director.
Bündchen had a long working relationship with Lagerfeld. In 2014, for example, she became the face of Chanel No. 5 perfume.
Bündchen last attended the Met Gala in 2019, wearing a blush-hued Dior gown for that year’s “Camp: Notes on a Fashion” theme. Brady joined her on the pink carpet at the time, complementing his then-wife’s outfit with a maroon velvet tuxedo jacket.
Bündchen and Brady finalized their divorce in October 2022, ending a 13-year marriage during which they welcomed two children, Benjamin Rein, 13, and Vivian Lake, 10. (The athlete also has a son, Jack, 15, with ex Bridget Moynahan.)
“The decision to end a marriage is never easy, but we have grown apart, and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always,” Bündchen wrote on Instagram at the time.
In a Vanity Fair interview published in March, the ex-Victoria’s Secret Angel said that her and Brady’s breakup was “the death of [her] dream.” She also pushed back on speculation that she made Brady choose between his football career and his family, saying their relationship issues were “not so black and white.”
